Friends Records Artist B-Locks Goes Back To School Elmont, New York—January 17, 2005— Among Friends Records, Inc. (AFR) today announced that one of its artists, B-Locks, recently visited Public School 23 in New York to promote reading and volunteer at The Literacy Fair. The Literacy Fair, a book fair designed to encourage underprivileged children to read, was also attended by United Federation of Teachers District 75 representative Al Mancuso and other professionals. Over 500 books were donated to the fair by publishing companies. B-Locks, the AFR Hip Hop artist whose releases include singles Prime Time, Power, and Warrior Widow and CD Black Rose: The Evils of Men, helped distribute the donated books and read aloud to the over 100 children in attendance. He encouraged reading and pointed out how Hip Hop songs are really poetry put to music with a beat. B-Locks, a.k.a. Hazzel and Barry Henderson, has roots in neighborhoods from Oakland, CA, Jamaica Queens, NY, and Long Island. A product of the inner city, B-Locks believes in community advocacy and is available for community appearances. |
